After many months of planning, collaborating and designing this little online space. I’m delighted to welcome you to Just You Me & The Dogs! If you’ve already had a look around the site you’ll have gleaned that it’s a much more personal site and I will be blogging about me, us, the dogs, garden, craft etc. It’s been a huge decision and undertaking to farewell wedding photography and to make the transition to taking on only limited shoots for pets and their people and crafting (of which you’ll soon be able to purchase some of my handmade goods in my online store, or, if you prefer to make your purchases from a brick and mortar store, I’ll be dropping off some goodies in a few weeks to Flour & Bloom).
Both myself and Ben will always be so grateful to have been given the privilege to capture the weddings we have. Without them, we wouldn’t have made so many new friends, seen so much of Australia nor gotten to bear witness to so much epic love between husbands and wives, families and friends. It’s truly been something magical and inspiring and it’s taught us to love better (I suspect chatting with many 80+-year-olds on the topic of long-lasting marriage will always have that effect). However much we love them they command a lot of time be invested and it is simply time for us to have some time together.
Speaking of love and time together… today is our 10 year anniversary (married for 5). We met at 19, as many 19-year-olds do… under the influence of too much liquor. We did the usual dating before we moved into an apartment together and then a house and got a dog and then bought a house, drove across Australia and then got another dog and another and also some chickens and ducks and cats… you get the idea. We’ve had so many beautiful moments of great joy and also comforted each other in deep grief and no doubt we will have many more moments joy and will grieve together again but both will only serve to help us grow and deepen our friendship and love. I couldn’t ask for a better man to wander through life with, with our family in whatever shape that takes.
Happy Anniversary Ben.
